Hodgkin Lymphoma

 

 

Lymphocyte Depleted

 

Rare in children, but common in patients with HIV.

Pathology:

  • Numerous bizarre large malignant cells, many HRS cells
  • Few lymphocytes
  • Diffuse fibrosis and necrosis

Often EBV positive in HIV patients

Clinical picture:

  • Widespread disease involving bone and bone marrow.
  • Generally poor prognosis though more recent studies suggest that with appropriate therapy, these patients may do well.
