High Grade Astrocytomas (HGA) Clinical Features

 

High grade astrocytomas tend to arise in the cerebral hemispheres and have a short history of signs and symptoms.

 

Anaplastic astrocytoma

  • Usually originate in the cerebral hemispheres and the brain stem

 

Below is a MR scan of a grade 3 bithalamic astrocytoma (#1).

 

 

Glioblastoma Multiforme

  • Commonly originates in the subcortical white matter of the cerebral hemispheres.
