Medulloblastomas are primitive neuroepithelial tumors (PNETs), a form of embryonal neoplasm that is grouped along with ependymoblastomas, pineoblastomas, and cerebral neuroblastomas. Medulloblastoma is a PNET of the posterior fossa, arising from the cerebellar midline.
