Available Services

At Canuck Place:

An interdisciplinary team of specialists provide services both at the hospice itself and in the community. These services include:

  • Clinical care:
    • Nurses and physicians are available 24 hours a day to provide medical care while in house.
  • Counselling and therapy team:
    • This includes: Spiritual care, recreation therapy, social work services, music therapy, play and art therapy, parent support group, teen groups and grief and bereavement counseling.
    • Support and bereavement care are offered for the child and family members during all the process of the child's illness and after their death.
  • Education:
    • This program offers the child an opportunity to maintain the normality of school attendance while staying at Canuck Place.
    • School teachers can work together with the child's hospice teacher to continue his or her education when in house
  • Volunteers:
    • They are very important for the daily activities of the hospice and ensure that the child's stay at Canuck Place will be as comfortable as possible.
