Febrile Neutropenia
Emerging Pathogens
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
MRSA, in particular community acquired MRSA, has been an increasing concern in the last 5-10 years.
Patients who have in-situ central venous lines are particularly at risk and prompt recognition of a site or tunnel infection is important.
These patients, as well as those known to have MRSA colonization, should be covered with vancomycin while awaiting cultures.
